When the Outside Doesn’t Match the Inside

You may appear capable, successful, and deeply caring to others—yet still feel uncertain or “not enough” inside. You might work hard to support everyone else, while privately holding a deep sense of self-doubt or fear of letting people down.

These feelings have roots. Together in therapy, we’ll create a space to make sense of the shame, anxiety and disconnection you may carry and shift the belief you’re not enough.

At your own pace, we’ll explore what’s emerging—emotionally, relationally, and internally. You don’t have to carry it alone.

Meet Me, Leslie Seligman, LCSW

I’m a licensed psychotherapist in Greenpoint with over a decade of experience. I work with individuals and couples who want something more than coping strategies—they want a deeper, more trusting connection with themselves.

I integrate psychodynamic therapy and self psychology to build  trust, and self-understanding. Creating an open space for lasting insight leading to change—in a collaborative and caring setting.

“Clients often say they feel more able to trust their thoughts and feelings. That’s where change begins.”

What My Therapy Space Is For

This isn’t about giving advice or offering quick fixes. It’s about making room for the parts of your experience that have been pushed aside or misunderstood.

Therapy may help you:

  • Feel less alone in the thoughts and emotions you’ve carried silently
  • Name what you need, even when it’s been hard to say out loud
  • Greater connection, clarity, and ease–in relationship to self and others
  • Trust your inner experience more deeply
  • Open up new possibilities to create the life you desire

If it’s felt easier to be there for others than for yourself—or if you’ve worked hard to seem “together” while struggling inside—this may be a good place to begin.

If You’re Hesitating, You’re Not Alone

Doubt, anxiety, and fear of conflict can be deeply rooted—but they don’t have to define you.

Together, we’ll explore what’s underneath your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With curiosity and care, I’ll help you begin to make sense of what’s been hard to untangle—and reconnect with a steadier sense of self.

Client Reflections
